A Reflection of God

It is often said that man is created in God's image.  Man has long struggled to reconcile just how the human might be an image of God.  

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.

God has always existed.

Genesis 1:1-31 In the beginning, God created...

Colossians 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

So, there has always been: 

GOD

God has always been spiritual in nature:

Genesis 1:1-31 ...And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

So, God is first described as spirit:

Next, God is described as a moral, thinking and feeling entity, of having a "soul.":

Genesis 1:1-31 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. ...

The Soul is defined as a substantial entity believed to be that in each individual which lives, feels, thinks and wills; it is the spiritual and emotional part of animate existence.  It is life.

Next, God is described as presenting himself on Earth in human form:

Luke 1:26-38 You will conceive in your womb and bear a Son and shall call His name JESUS. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest. ... “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you. Therefore the Holy One who will be born will be called the Son of God.

Romans 12:5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

So, God is presented to us as Spirit, Soul and Body.

Every human is born with a body:

The natural living human develops a soul (A substantial entity believed to be that in each person which lives, feels, thinks and wills; spiritual and emotional part of a person, animate existence; life, living being):

Humans, created in the image of God, also have access to the Spirit of God should they choose to be "born again" through awareness and development of their spiritual nature:

John 4:24  God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. 

1 Corinthians 6:19  Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,

Should they choose to ignore the Spirit of God they are left alone to deal with the struggles of life with only their individual body and soul to cope with the stresses of life, rather than having access to the guiding and supportive Spirit of God and his children on Earth.

1 Corinthians 2:14  The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 

So, humans are presented as the "mirror image", so to speak, of God:

Spirit

Thus, we are a reflection of God:

1 Corinthians 13:12  For now we see as through a glass [reflection], dimly, but then, face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know, even as I also am known.
