Song of Solomon: Week 4

The Art of Courtship, Part 2

Today we look at the “little foxes” in a relationship. As a couple courts and draws closer to a point of ultimate commitment, the protection of the relationship is critical. Keep the focus on the relationship rather than on the “little foxes.”

Song of Solomon, Chapter 2: 15-17

“Catch the foxes for us, The little foxes that are ruining the vineyards, While our vineyards are in blossom.”
16 “My beloved is mine, and I am his; He pastures his flock among the lilies. 17 “Until the cool of the day when the shadows flee away, Turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle Or a young stag on the mountains of Bether.”

1. “Catch the foxes...” What does this mean?

2. What does “God can restore what the locust has eaten” and “He makes wine from water” mean?

3. What three things would video leader tell you even, if he were an atheist?

4. In the reading from Shakespeare, what is Propero saying to Ferdinand?

5. Song of Solomon 2:16, “My beloved is mine, and I am his...” What does this mean?

6. What two things must you do in your relationship to help it grow and keep the foxes out?

7. Song of Solomon 2:16b, “He pastures his flock among the lilies.” What does this mean?

Key thought
“The three Golden Rules of Life: Never borrow money in excess, Do not be an unforgiving person, Do not get involved in premarital sex.”

Memory Verse

“18 Let your fountain be blessed; and rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19. As a loving hind and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; be exhilarated always with her love.” Proverbs 18-19
