By definition life includes change, and change is frequently perceived as difficult, hard, or undesired.
We can experience joy as God uses such trials to mature our faith. It is not the hardship that brings joy; joy comes from the realization that God is at work and has taken care of our needs.
The point is, God uses trials to mature our faith.
